Hand Function
My dissertation research was focused on hand function and how it changes. I used motion capture and six axis load cells to quantify hand function in terms of how the fingers can move and apply forces. These ranges of motion and forces were used to create models of force production and to track differences in participants due to surgery. I also developed visualization methods to explain how differences in function both range of motion and forces.
Bone Quality and Imaging
At the Henry Ford Hospital Bone and Joint center research lab we are using Digital Tomosynthesis to assess vertebral bone quality through microstructural texture and digital volume correlation derived displacements and strains. Our goal is to better predict and prevent vertebral fractures.
Shown to the left is the displacement gradient over a L1 vertebrae.
